Recovery from fibromyalgia can be a long journey, but you are not alone. Many people before you have recovered, and you can benefit from what they have learned. You are not alone in your pain, and you are not alone in your struggles. We can make this journey together.
After many years of struggling with the debilitating pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia, I returned to university and researched the life stories of people who recovered from fibromyalgia. I thought ‘Even if there is no known cause or cure, the fact that people are recovering proves that it is possible.’ I wanted to find out how they recovered, in the hope that knowledge could help others also recover.
What I found was that the people who recover from fibromyalgia are doing some things differently to those who continue being ill. In a way, living with fibromyalgia is like being in a maze attached to a prison where some people find how to get out and the rest stay in the prison of illness.
The most important thing to learn is how to get out – even if we never know for sure how people become ill with fibromyalgia, the most important thing is getting out of that prison, and finding the way through the maze!
If you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, then I want to help you improve your quality of life and go as far along the path of recovery as you can.
I am not able to diagnose any medical condition or advise on any medications. I also cannot guarantee that you will recover completely. What I can do, is share with you the results of my university research into fibromyalgia recovery, share my own experiences and things I have learned about fibromyalgia outside of university, and help support you live your best life regardless of how far along the path of recovery you travel.
